Throughout the X-Men comics (and movies), a number of incredibly sexy characters have appeared throughout the series’ long and illustrious history. Of the numerous characters that have made their debut so far (as of 2022), several ladies stand out above the rest in regard to their overall appearance and sex appeal. From Selene to Emma Frost, this article examines and ranks the 10 sexiest characters of the X-Men series. Background

The beautiful Selene is a mutant that made her first appearance in New Mutants (1983). Portrayed as a female that was born approximately 17,000 years ago in Europe, Selene is a one of the X-Men’s most hated enemies as she is incredibly evil and powerful. Capable of siphoning the energy source of individuals for her own use, Selene was responsible for committing a number of mass-murders throughout history, and later established Nova Roma in Brazil where she became the goddess of a cult. After later meeting the New Mutants, Selene travelled to New York where she joined the Hellfire Club, becoming the Black Queen. In modern renditions of her character, Selene attempted to reanimate dead mutants around the globe, gathering them for the purpose of leading a coordinated strike on Genosha. Her plans were later discovered by the X-Men, however, leading to her defeat.

Powers and Abilities

In regard to her abilities, Selene is an incredibly powerful mutant who possesses a number of special powers/talents. First and foremost, she is immortal and is capable of siphoning the life force from individuals for her own use. Likewise, she also possesses a number of superhuman abilities, including super strength, durability, speed, endurance, and telepathy. Among some of her more powerful mind-based abilities are pyrokinesis and the ability to control others. Finally, Selene is also capable of controlling darkforce (a solid shadow), and maintains a stunning expertise over magic. Taken together, she is an incredibly powerful character capable of holding her own against nearly any opponent.

Personality and Appearance

Selene can be best-described as a ruthless, ambitious, and deceitful character within the X-Men universe. Evil to the core, she has no qualms about manipulating others to do her will, and is willing to lie, murder, steal, and sacrifice whatever is necessary to achieve her goals. As such, she possesses no regard for human life, as she believes mankind exists solely for her lifeforce and continuity. Taken together, she is an incredibly dangerous mutant capable of inflicting mass-casualties (and death) without warning.

Background

The gorgeous Laura Kinney (also known as “X-23”) is a female mutant that made her first appearance in NYX #3 (2003). Characterized as an artificially-created mutant, X-23 was engineered to be a DNA replicant of Wolverine, and was raised in the Weapon X program as the daughter of Dr. Sarah Kinney (hence her last name). Upon reaching maturity, X-23 was deployed on a number of assassination projects, including an operation to destroy other X-23 clones located within the Weapon X facility. After going berserk from a “trigger scent,” however, X-23 unintentionally killed her “mother,” causing her to flee to New York City. She was later discovered by Wolverine, who took her under his wing for additional training. In later renditions of her character’s development, X-23 (now known as Laura) became a full-fledge member of the X-Men’s training academy, before eventually joining Cyclops’ “Black-Ops X-Force” team. She later joined the Avengers Academy, and took on Wolverine’s name following his death.

X-23 is an incredibly powerful mutant renowned for her superhuman abilities that mimic the Wolverine (due to their shared DNA). She is exceptionally strong, possessing superhuman strength and durability, and possesses heightened senses that provide her with extreme reflexes, agility, and speed. Laura Kinney can be best-described as a quiet, somewhat obsessive, and emotionless character in the X-Men series. These traits derive (primarily) from years of assassination contracts and missions within the Weapon X program, resulting in X-23’s distorted view of the world around her. As such, she is tough-as-nails, and always ready to engage in battle. Likewise, she is incredibly observant of her surroundings, giving her a decisive edge over opponents as she is always calculating her next move.

Regarding her physical attributes, X-23 is an incredibly hot and attractive woman in the X-Men series. The lovely Polaris (also known as Lorna Dane) is a female mutant that made her first appearance in Uncanny X-Men (1968). Characterized as the daughter of Magneto, Polaris was raised by adopted parents throughout her early life, learning of her mutant powers as she grew older. Upon reaching maturity, Polaris quickly found herself in the center of an all-out war between both the X-Men and Mesmero (who was seeking to exert control over her natural abilities). After later falling in love with the X-Man known as Havok, Lorna attempted to return to a normal life. However, her tremendous powers would not allow this to occur, forcing Polaris to join the X-Men alongside Havok. Although she would eventually lose her powers for a brief time (following M-Day), Apocalypse later restored her powers when he transformed her into Pestilence, one of his Horsemen. In later renditions of her character, Polaris and Havoc eventually split, but later rekindled their relationship when Havok’s brother (Vulcan) attempted to take over the Shi’ar Empire. Following the war, Polaris formed a new X-Factor group alongside Gambit and Quicksilver.

Due to her origins as Magneto’s daughter, Polaris is an incredibly strong and powerful mutant within the X-Men series. Polaris is a relatively complex character, and is often described as one who is both fearless and ruthless in her overall demeanor. As an individual who suffers from bipolar disorder throughout the X-Men series, her moods vary between friendly and playful to depressed and cynical. As such, she is usually quite sarcastic (with a humor that matches her darker personality). Likewise, she appears to be largely motivated by anger, resulting in an aggressive side to Polaris that often results in reckless decisions, as well as unpleasant outcomes to many situations.

The beautiful Magik (also known as Illyana Rasputin) is a female mutant that made her first appearance in X-Men #1 (May 1975). Portrayed in the series as the younger sister of Pitor Rasputin (also known as Colossus), Illyana is first seen fighting alongside the X-Men within the sorcerer Belasco’s timeless realm known as “Limbo.” Although the rest of the X-Men were able to eventually escape, Illyana remained imprisoned by Belasco, who turned a large part of her soul evil. With her newfound “darksoul” (which provided her with a mastery of magic and sorcery), she later defeats Belasco and returns to Earth (several years older). Joining the New Mutants under the name “Magik,” she eventually manages to discover her younger self within Limbo, preventing her soul from being corrupted altogether, and destroying (in the process) all of the subsequent events that transpired after her transformation. In spite of this, Magik is later killed by the Legacy Virus, but is restored once again in the form of the “Darkchylde.” In later renditions of her character’s development, Magik eventually becomes a key figure of the “Phoenix Five,” before joining Cyclops’ “New X-Men” group.

Magik is an exceptionally strong and powerful character within the X-Men series. Characterized as an expert in the realm of sorcery and magic, she is capable of teleportation through both time and space, and is able to perform astral projection. Magik is also well-versed in sensing the presence of magic (and its wielders), and is blessed with a number of superhuman powers (including strength and durability). When taken together, she is a formidable warrior capable of defeating even the most powerful of opponents.

Similar to many of the ladies appearing on our current list, Magik is a relatively complex character within the X-Men series that is renowned for her good-natured qualities. She is loyal (to a fault), and remains dedicated to her ideals (vowing to do the right thing no matter what the cost may be). In spite of this though, Magik also possesses a darker side to her personality that showcases itself in the presence of enemies. Background

The gorgeous Rogue is a female mutant that made her first appearance in Avengers Annual #10 (1981). Characterized as an orphan in the X-Men series, Rogue ran away from her Mississippi home at a young age, before eventually being adopted by Mystique and Destiny. Rogue first learns of her mutant powers after kissing a boy, which causes her to absorb all of his thoughts and memories (prompting her to join Mystique’s “Brotherhood of Evil Mutants”). In the years that followed, Rogue’s powers continued to grow with each passing day, reaching epic proportions during a fight with Ms. Marvel. After absorbing her superhuman powers, Rogue was forced to turn to the X-Men for help as her absorption powers had become uncontrollable. She later joins the X-Men, but is later crippled by the villain Pandemic who infects her with the “88 Virus” (causing her skin to be lethal to anyone who touches it). With the help of Hope Summers, Mystique, and Professor X, however, her lethal touch and absorption powers are later returned to normal, giving her greater control over her abilities. With this, Rogue is able to finally marry the love of her life, Gambit.

Rogue is an incredibly powerful (and gifted) mutant within the X-Men series. Harnessing the ability to absorb other mutant’s powers through simple touch, Rogue is capable of mimicking (and accessing) an individual’s memories, knowledge, specific talents, as well as their personality and physical abilities (Claremont, 299). When combined with her “lethal touch” ability (that lasts for a brief spell of time), Rogue is certainly one of the most powerful X-Men characters of all time, and is a deadly opponent to nearly any would-be aggressor that seeks to challenge her.

After her parents turned to Charles Xavier for help, Jean began rigorous mental conditioning to hone (and control) her newfound powers for the good of mankind. After convincing her that she possessed a remarkable gift that could benefit humanity, Storm accompanied the professor back to America, where she became a full member of the X-Men. For this, she was often given the task of “team leader.” In later renditions of her character’s development, Ororo later returned to Africa where she married the Black Panther.

Storm is an incredibly powerful mutant within the X-Men series and is renowned for her ability to control (and manipulate) the weather to her will. Utilizing the Earth’s magnetic field as her source of power and strength, Storm is capable of inducing rain, sleet, snow, hail, lightning, and even fog within seconds. She is also gifted with the ability to summon hurricane-strength winds, and to drastically raise (or lower) temperatures to her desired levels. Upon reaching maturity, however, Mystique decided to utilize these powers for evil purposes, rising through the ranks at the U.S. Defense Department through various forms. After learning advanced military secrets from her leadership position, Mystique then incorporated this knowledge for her own criminal network, organizing the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants alongside Avalanche, the Blob, Destiny, and Pyro. Following her group’s failed assassination attempt on Robert Kelly though, Mystique eventually decided to join the X-Men. This move was short-lived, however, as she later betrayed the group while hunting Hope Summers, forcing the Wolverine to kill her. She was later raised from the dead by the Hand.

As a result of her shapeshifting abilities, Mystique is an incredibly powerful mutant that is capable of taking nearly any form that she desires. This includes the ability to mimic voices, and duplicate an individual’s clothing and accessories with extreme precision. As if these powers weren’t enough, Mystique also possesses the ability to regrow lost limbs, conceal herself, see in the dark, and fly. The gorgeous Psylocke (also known as Elisabeth “Betsy” Braddock) was a female mutant that made her first appearance in Captain Britain #8. Portrayed in the X-Men series as the daughter of James Braddock (also known as “Captain Britain”), young Betsy took over her father’s role at the request of the British government, serving until she was blinded (and nearly killed) by the supervillain known as Slaymaster. After later being abducted by Mojo (who provided Betsy with artificial eyes), she was eventually rescued by the New Mutants, joining the X-Men under the codename “Psylocke.” She would later play a vital role in defeating the Shadow King alongside X-Force and the Exiles, but was eventually killed during a major battle taking place in Madripoor. However, through the use of her psionic abilities, Psylocke was able to recreate her original body to recover from her untimely death.

Psylocke is an exceptionally powerful mutant within the X-Men series, and is renowned for her possession of psionic abilities. Some of her most notable powers include telekinesis, telepathy, precognition, and umbrakinesis (HobbyLark.com). In later renditions of her character, Psylocke’s abilities were further enhanced once she learned to induce hypnotic states in her enemies, illusions, and to modify memories to her will. When combined with her superhuman strength, agility, speed, and durability, Psylocke is a true force to be reckoned with, as she is capable of holding her own against nearly any adversary.

Personality and Appearance

In regard to Psylocke’s personality, fans often describe her character as one that is both calm and reserved (despite the traumatic experiences of her early life). She is also an extremely determined individual, and is renowned for her genius-level intellect. Calculating her every move, Psylocke is able to adapt to nearly any situation that presents itself. It is important to note, however, that later renditions of Psylocke’s character greatly altered these basic traits, pushing an adrenaline-junkie side of her personality that was coupled to a far less-reserved spirit. As such, more recent comic books depict her as slightly more reckless than her previous self.

As for her appearance and physical traits, Psylocke is commonly portrayed with long purple hair, violet-colored eyes, and a well-toned body that is a true sight to behold. Best-described as curvaceous, Psylocke possesses extremely large breasts, a slim waistline, wide hips, and thick (muscled) upper thighs. Making her first appearance in X-Men #129 (1980), Emma Frost is portrayed in the X-Men series as the mutant daughter of a wealthy New England family. Born with tremendous knowledge and a gift for telepathy, Frost quickly spurned her family’s wealth to set out on her own, building a multi-billion-dollar corporation by the time she was a teenager. In the years that followed, Frost soon became acquainted with the Hellfire Club of politicians and business leaders, but quickly dispatched their members, taking control of the organization and naming herself the White Queen. From her newfound position of power, Frost became a key enemy of the X-Men for a number of years. However, years of guilt and shame later prompted her to join the X-Men, where she developed a telepathic relationship with Cyclops after the death of Jean Grey.

Notable for her psionic abilities, Frost is capable of utilizing telepathy, and is able to construct psionic shields for the purpose of preventing mental intrusions. Similar to Psylocke, Frost also possesses the ability to influence the minds of others, and can actively create illusions, amnesia, and total paralysis of her victims. In regard to her personality, Emma Frost can be best-described as an individual that is both cold and icy in her overall demeanor. She is often indifferent to those around her, and maintains a superior attitude towards anyone that she feels is beneath her (which includes the vast majority of individuals). Likewise, she is incredibly stubborn (to a fault), and rarely changes her mind once a decision has been made. In spite of these character flaws, Frost is extremely talented in the realm of leadership abilities, and maintains a genius-level intellect that is rivaled only by a few.
