Redneck Party Games

Everyone loves a themed party. I offer advice about how to throw a get-together everyone will be talking about until your next one.

Redneck Theme Party Games

When you throw your next party, why not choose a Redneck theme. You can serve Redneck food and no celebration is complete without party games. Everyone loves to get involved and it ensures Rednecks and non-Rednecks alike have a great time.
Planning is essential though, but with a little forethought, there is no reason why you can't throw the party to end all parties. In this article, I will suggest some games that will make your party a success.
With a selection of games for kids and adults, everyone is sure to have a good time. There could even be shouts of 'Yee Haw' or 'Whoop Whoop Whoop' echoing throughout your neighborhood.
Some games will be more suitable than others, this will depend on your location and the age of your guests.

Tug of War

Who doesn't love a game of tug-of-war? Kids and adults can get in on the action. It is a great way to get everyone involved. It is best to put the larger adults at the end of the rope to use as an anchor. Kids in the middle and a strong teenager at the front to give a strong first pull.

For a bit of added fun, do this over a muddy patch. Obviously this works best for a summer party where you can hose everyone down afterwards.

Sling Shot Games

Although Rednecks love their guns, your local city ordinance probably have laws concerning the use of these in your backyard. Don't despair because you can still get that same thrill using a sling shot or catapult which is pretty cool and a lot safer. Whether you opt for cans, stuffed toys or toilet paper tubes this is a game of skill which everyone will love.

Guidance should be given to younger guests if this is their first time using a sling shot. The simple toys from years gone by are often the best for family fun.

Face Pulling or Gurning Competition

Gurning or face pulling will have everyone in stitches. On the invitations be sure to mention that this contest will be taking place. It gives people a chance to practice. Don't be alarmed if some older participants remove their teeth for a better effect

Redneck Toilet Games

Of course, the toilet plays a big part in any redneck celebration. One option is bobbing. This is not bobbing for apples or pigs feet. This is bobbing for chocolate. Well, let's try bobbing for chocolate in a toilet filled with Sprite or 7 up. Using Duct tape, seal the hole and fill with the sparkling lemon lime drink. Add chocolates that float. This should be tested beforehand. Not as easy as you may think but fun.
The second option is one you may have seen before. Do you remember the game of horseshoes? Instead of using a horseshoe, you use a toilet seat. This must be the type that is open on the front. There is a metal stake place across the yard and you take turns throwing the toilet seat towards the stake. Skill is involved but fun will be had by all.

The third game using a toilet theme is throwing a corn cob through the hole. The toilet seat can either be mounted on a pole or on top of a trash can. Make sure you have prizes for the winners.

Wheelbarrow Race

There are two ways to play this. You can either use real wheelbarrows. (You may need to ask your friends to bring a few). As in the photo above, this can be couples or friends.

Or you could do people wheelbarrow racing. You remember when you were young and one person would grab your legs and you would walk on your hands? This is a fun race to do. Be forewarned. The kids are going to win this race.

Spitting Games

Although not something you want to encourage if you are having an indoor party, try spitting for accuracy!

This can be watermelon seeds, sunflower seeds or something about that size. Have a target such as a spittoon or another toilet for people to aim at.

Sack Races

When was the last time you competed in a sack race? Sometimes the most fun costs nothing. Some people will fall over, some will cheat, some will have been practicing! If you can't find, gunny sacks, consider using large bags such the type dog food comes in. Reinforced trash bags could work as well.

Redneck Prizes

If someone wins a game, reward them with a unique Redneck prize. This could be anything from a Moon Pie or Twinkie to a six pack of beer. A fly swatter, a roach motel or cheap toilet paper would also be suitable prizes.
These prizes don't want to be wrapped nicely with bows, wrap in paper towels with twine or in a used pizza box.

Also, consider having a tombola table full of prizes. These are 'prizes' such as a can of beans, a box of macaroni and cheese (economy brand), or anything from The Dollar Store.

I would totally play one of those toilet games, but think I'd have to have a few beers in me first! Hilarious hub!

        Hi Tirelesstraveler,

I'm pleased you enjoyed the hub. In my family we used watermelon seeds. It wasn't long before we had small plants sprouting around the yard, much to my mother's chagrin!

Thanks for visiting and your comment.

Heard Redneck Yacht Club on the radio this morning. Now that is where you play redneck games. Fun hub.

Spitting games, using projectiles like olive pits are great fun.

        Hello Joe,

I think we could all loosen up a bit and enjoy some 'good 'ol fun'. For some, it has been a long time since they have had a good laugh. Thanks for reading, enjoying and commenting.
