Gaming can be a bit of a brutal business. In fact, there are plenty of players who are considered ‘toxic’, which essentially means they like to bully others, either by playing badly on purpose, getting on voice chat and harassing others, or doing similar things to hopefully irritate, annoy, and even get other players to log off. Why? Your guess is as good as mine, but I tend to think of it as a bit of ‘little man’ syndrome, if you know what I mean.
But there are occasionally nice things that come out of these toxic events, such as this moment caught by Alexandra of her ‘bonus baby’ sticking up for himself when ordinarily he wouldn’t do so.

Now, it seems that Alexandra’s stepson has a bit of a habit of not really standing up for himself when called upon. But Alexandra knew that he couldn’t let people run all over him, so she had a gentle talking-to. This is what led her to walking by his room one evening, only to catch him talking with someone, on a game, through his headset.
And what he was saying surprised her.
He was standing up for himself, but also not being rude about it either. In fact, he rather politely was telling off whoever was on the other end. In essence, the other person was obviously being rude but, rather than being pissed off, the young man easily redirects the other person, saying that if they continued saying what they were, he would not be their friend anymore. He would defriend them, and ignore them, therefore no longer giving them a target to attack.
In my opinion, he handled the situation with more aplomb than a lot of adults, and I have to give both him and his mother some huge kudos!
