When it comes to being an anime fan, what is your favorite part? Is it all the different characters, the epic storylines, and the ships? Or maybe, just maybe, it is the cultural touches that are often thrown in when Japanese animation meets Western viewers!
Part of that cultural expansion has been things like food festivals, with a major ‘Otaku’ food festival taking place this very weekend in Houston, TX, as The Houston Foodie let us know more about it!

As one might expect, there is bound to be tons of food at a food festival, and, even better for us anime and all things Japan fans, all of the cuisine at this festival are geared towards keeping those things in mind. There will be over ten food vendors with various dishes like ramen and meat skewers, egg rolls, octopus, and more.
And not only is the food anime-themed, but plenty of vendors are also ready to sell their anime merchandise! You’ll be able to find all kinds of show and movie posters and memorabilia, as well as clothes, costumes, and more. You’ll also be able to come across live music, drink a bit of beer, and otherwise just enjoy the day out in fun (and sun) of Texas’ late January, surrounded by all the things that we all love!
Best of all, this event is completely free to enter (though you will need cash for food, drinks, and all those fun anime-themed merchandise items you want to buy)! Held January 21st and 22nd, the event runs from 12pm to 10 pm on Saturday, 7 pm on Sunday, so drop on by if you get the chance!
I can’t wait to see you there.
