What do your dance moves say about your personality?

Do you enjoy dancing? The fact that you do means that you’re probably not a introvert, but your style of dance may reveal more about your personality than you think. Dancing is a way to express yourself and communicate with your dance partner and the world in a creative manner. Here’s what your favorite style of dance reveals about you.

You Clap Your Hands When You Dance

Clapping your hands when you dance is a sign that you’re an extroverted, outgoing, vivacious type who loves to be the center of the social scene. The noise that clapping creates may be a subconscious or conscious attempt to call attention to yourself.

In fact, this can be true if you make any type of noise when you dance, such as snapping your fingers or stomping your feet. People who clap their hands when dancing are usually upbeat and fun-loving with lots of energy. Clapping is also contagious, and you may inspire those around you to clap too!

You Wear Bright, Flamboyant Dance Clothes

If you pick the brightest outfit to wear out on the dance floor, you probably like being the center of attention. Flamboyant dance clothes suggest you're confident and not afraid to show off your moves.

Such confidence can be a positive trait, as it shows you are comfortable in your own skin and not afraid to let loose and have fun. However, some people may see this as being arrogant or showy. But it's most important to be yourself! If you're flamboyant and outgoing, let it show!

You Repeat the Same Dance Steps

If you repeat the same dance steps over and over with little variation, you’re probably a conventional person who is risk averse and doesn’t easily embrace change. Although it’s comfy to play it safe, you might enjoy learning some new dance moves to add variety to your life.

It may also mean you're a creature of habit who doesn't like to deviate from the norm. This could be a positive or negative, depending on the situation. If you're dancing at a club, it might mean that you're not adventurous or uncomfortable in a strange environment.

However, if you're dancing at a wedding, repeating the same dance steps might mean that you're a classic, elegant person. Either way, your dancing says something about your style.

You Shake Your Hips With Wild Abandon

If you shake your hips with wild abandon on the dance floor, you’re probably a passionate, uninhibited soul who welcomes change and embraces new experiences. You’re also likely to be a risk taker both in your social life and in your business dealings.

This type of dancing is filled with positive energy and a carefree attitude. People see those who dance this way as outgoing and confident, and it's a fabulous way to let loose and have fun.

You Avoid the Dance Floor Like the Plague

If you avoid the dance floor, you’re probably a shy, introverted person who doesn’t feel comfortable in social situations, or maybe you don’t know many dance moves and could benefit from a lesson or two. More men fall into the latter group than women. Some people avoid the dance floor and feel ill at ease if they’re coerced into showing up at an event that involves dancing.

Other people feel self-conscious about their bodies or worry that they will look foolish on the dance floor. Some people may simply not enjoy the physical activity, while others may find the social aspects of dancing intimidating.

If that’s the case, you might feel more comfortable watching the latest flick in the dark at the movie theater than being on the dance floor. That’s okay! We’re all a little different. Dancing isn’t for everyone!

You Stick to Slow Dancing

If slow dancing is your preferred style of dance, you’re probably a laid-back, easy-going, romantic soul who’s also mindful. You relish the good things in life and appreciate the smallest of pleasures. You might enjoy getting lost in a romance novel or love story over a fast-paced adventure novel.

However, some people slow dance because it’s easier on their joints, and they like slow, relaxing music rather than the high-energy, adrenaline-pumping tunes that get the heart racing and sweat flowing.
